Laser Hair Removal: Am I a Good Candidate? What Do I Need to Know?

Breast Reduction - mammoplasty

Many factors contribute to one's decision to change their shape.
The following information is to familiarise you with surgical procedures

Questions to ask yourself:
  • Do your breasts match your overall body physique.
  • Are they of equal shape and size
  • Are your breasts extremely large
  • Are your breasts particularly droopy (ptosis) or small ?

Most procedures, are designed to create more youthful appearing and shapely breasts.

  • Due to hormonal changes, pregnancy and nursing, the breasts gradually fall, and the glands reduce in size. Good results can be had by surgery, however, scars will be present. In time, the scars will grow paler , becoming less conspicuous.

    The procedure:
Breast tissue is trimmed along with excess skin, which reduces the final volume of the breast while elevating the nipple/areolar area.

In an uplift procedure, skin is trimmed while the nipple/areolar complex is elevated . Some people prefer a small breast implant at the time of an uplift procedure if one sees the breasts are too droopy, and too small.

Breast reduction procedure is performed in a Surgery Center on an outpatient basis or, if you prefer, an overnight stay. A general anaesthetic may be given to insure comfort and safety.

Traditionally, in addition to an incision around the areolus, a vertical incision extends from the areolus to the fold beneath the breast and another scar runs along the length of the fold. Today, many breast reductions and uplifts can be performed with newer techniques necessitating only an incision around the areolus.

Following the procedure a brassiere-like dressing will be applied followed by a rest in a recovery room until ready for discharge.

Pregnancy: it is recommended that mammaplasty only be performed when there is no plan for pregnancies because pregnancy and breast-feeding result in changes of volume, producing a negative effect on the results of the surgery. There is a risk that the patient will be unable to breast-feed normally due to insufficient amount of breast milk because of an interference with the mammary glands.

Any issues related to the size and shape of the breasts, all motives and psychological reasons need to be examined.

Each surgery is unique to the individual and the surgeon’s individual approach towards the patient corresponds accordingly. It is also necessary to ensure good general health as with any other surgical operation.
